Meme from here

What was the last book you bought?
Terry Pratchett’s Making Money paperback

Name a book you have read MORE than once
Too many to list. I tend to re-read because I have horrible memory and sometimes when I get too caught up in the plot, I speed read and misses a lot of details. I’ll definitely read back a book if I liked it enough.

Has a book ever fundamentally changed the way you see life? If yes, what was it?
Hmmmm … not that I can remember?

How do you choose a book? eg. by cover design and summary, recommendations or reviews
I’ll pick up the book if the cover looks interesting but I will buy it if the summary on the back jacket seems interesting. Also, if there’s a book where I heard a lot about from my friends, I tend to borrow it first before buying ( if I like it enough )

Do you prefer Fiction or Non-Fiction?
Fiction

What’s more important in a novel - beautiful writing or a gripping plot?
Gripping plot. I avoid purple prosey ones and imo good writing are most evident in non-pretentious writings.

Most loved/memorable character (character/book)
Good Omens’ Crowley. Definitely most loved and memorable to me :D

Which book or books can be found on your nightstand at the moment?
Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere. Tokimeki Memorial GS2 Short Stories Collection 3 <-- haha okay, don't laugh damnit!

What was the last book you’ve read, and when was it?
The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman. Earlier in the morning when I was waiting for the bus.

Have you ever given up on a book half way in?
Yes. Dune. I … can’t seem to get past the first chapter no matter how hard and how many times I tried.

Just got back from The China Embassy once more. Why is it EVERY time I went there it’s so filled with people like your regular morning wet marketplace??! And I had to wait and que up for more than an hour again as well ORZ

Results : Applications are being processed but I’m cranky from being hungry and tired.

And just wanna get home and play 薄桜鬼 even though it means I have to wade through the onslaught of kanji because I really do find myself immerse in the story now D: Halp! Hijikata, why are you still eluding me?? And Okita is simply breaking my otome heart now ORZ

Finished ‘Wicked’ by Gregory Maguire a bit earlier will depress me for some time to come, I’m sure >_>;

I mean, since picking this book up for the two books for HKD100 value buy at HMV, I had known the ending of the story already. Like duh who doesn’t know that Dorothy followed the yellow brick roads ended up killing the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz? But reading the story of The Witch as spinned by Gregory made me feel damned sad and sympathetic for her ( and yes, I’d always wondered why the hell the story is called Wizard of Oz since I was a kid since Dorothy was the one that had to do all the awful tasks. The book gave me a whole loads of other reasons to hate the Wizard now)

Which reminds me to question myself why the hell did I start playing FFVII : Crisis Core to begin with as well. For I damned well know how the story ends for SOLDIER First Class Zack Fair. ORZ I’d been stuck on the final chapter of the game since before I leave for HK and is really dilly dallying in finishing up what may be the last hour or two of the game BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO BE DEPRESSED.

And then I went on and read Wicked. Brilliant, just brilliant >_<

ANYWAY.

I'm back from Hong Kong since last Tuesday ( duuuuuuhhh ). The trip was fun and my darling L'Arc~en~Ciel was awesome. Pure awesome. Had a super duper long entry about the concert experience posted here if anyone is masochist enough to wade through the barrage of text diarrhea there *coughs*

Will probably post up photos from Hong Kong and Macau later but currently is too LAZY. Ta, people. I’ll probably go dig up some Terry Pratchett’s books after this to cheer myself up. I don’t think I’m in the state of mind to appreciate Tim Burton’s The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy at the moment ( another part of the bargain buy from HK. WHY YES, I BUY BOOKS FROM HK. From HMV nonetheless. Don’t judge me )

OH HAY

This place had been gathering much e-dust for the past month or so O_o And even the much-dropped-out-of-this-world-Kel had decided to update his blog, I figured that I’m really doing some sort of alternate dimension a great injustice if I don’t actually pulled my lazy ass out from the lazy-gutter and waste some internets-space, yanno.

So what had I been up to? Between the last two posts and this one here, there had been much changes of daily routines I was comfortably used to for the past two and a half year. I’d found myself a new job =D Or in a way, a new job found me because it was try some friends’ contacts & workplace. There’s much to be learned at this place and I’m hoping and praying that I’m up for the job ;__; Kel’s post about his job also in many way made me smile because in many ways, I felt like I am living in constant fear of being discovered as a fraud by my higher ups. Eek.

Negativity aside ( and since I’m kinda stumped about what to write about without being a bore ); I’m gonna list down random ups and downs in recent time

  • Music : L’Arc~en~Ciel’s new single! MY HEART DRAWS A DREAM. It’s simply TOO DAMNED GORGEOUS and made several non -fans I know in love with it. ♥ The radio rip version I have now had been looped to death on my iTunes. BUT WHEN IS THE PV COMING OUT?! I’m SO on my hyde-withdrawal ;__;
  • Gaming : I’d beat Ouendan 2’s cheerleader’s mode xDDD which was totally unexpected because I wasn’t really interested in playing the Divas in the first place
  • Gaming : FF3 is loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Though I need to get the motivation to complete the last dungeon. Eisu shouldn’t had told me it’s gonna be massive long assed pain in the neck dungeon >_>; since I ended up getting scared of it before actually entering the Crystal Palace. SUCKS
  • Gaming : Planet Puzzle League and ZooKepper are ADDICTIVE. They will suck your mind and soul ( away from FF3! OH NOES )
  • Gaming : Got my Mum addicted to my DS. I haven’t decide whether it’s a good thing or not D:
  • Music : UVERworld’s new single Shaka Beach ~Laka Laka la~ was meh :\ But then again, none of UVERworld’s stuff post SHAMROCK ( summer last year ) made me go squee anymore :\ WHYYYYYYY ?!
  • Summer doramas : Hana Kimi ~Ikemen Paradise~ and Yamada Taro Monogatari are my cracks weekly XD; Personally, I liked the live action Yamada Taro stories better since HanaKimi are just pure CRACK all the way. But ughh ~Ikemen Paradise~ is an aptly named [ Hot Guys Paradise ]. It makes me feel so juvenile D: Kagurazaka why are you SO DAMNED HOT?! ( It’s so wrong I tell you >_>; Juvenile! JUVENILE! )
  • Music : Been listening to Plastic Tree;s latest album loads recently. It’s SO very good ;3;
  • Music : Sparnuotoji passed me a sample of Kamijo’s new band “Versailles”. It’s OH SO DRAMATIC! It’s OH SO KAMIJO! It’s very X-Japan-ish. It’s full of weird ENGRISH! I approved 100%! <3 <33 XDDDD
  • Music : OCEANLANE’s song titled “Englishman in New York” drives me nuts. I have no idea why it pisses me off. Because it’s damned pretentious to hear a Japanese singing a song titled “Englishman in New York”? Because of the pretty mundane music? I mean, I *liked* their other songs. I just can’t stand this one. I dunno why. I mean, I LOVED Kamijo/Teru/Gackt/Yuu-chan/Hideki/HYDE’s bad Engrish to death. but WHYYY is this driving me up the wall?! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ??!
  • Books : Finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I *liked* it despite what a huge number of fandom are waging war over now XD And yes, I do think those who actually thought Harry + Hermione makes a good couple are delusional XDDD

    Gah enough, I need to do some work now O_o; Brain storm meeting after lunch *ded*

    ….

    …………..

    Okay fine, obviously I haven’t been getting back on my groove with this blogging thing, go look at some tasty food pictures over at whiterabbit’s blog :3 [ Which I went too, but I'm too lazy to upload pictures XD; ]

    PS :And bonus link for the day.Specially dedicated to the communists graphic designers of the world :D
