ARCHIVE FOR THE ‘food’ CATEGORY

Anyone who got the title name reference gets an e-cookie :D

Last weekend was an awesome food filled weekend! Had a road trip with most of the gang to Ipoh to have an early birthday meet up with our dearest long lost Ping Pong on Saturday <3 We had a good 12 hours filled of GOOD Ipoh food. Ipoh food pictures up later since I have to shift through my clunky camera.

As for Sunday ... Spent the afternoon at Booya’s playing Rock Band XDD I am so n00b it hurts =.= Also, Disgaea 3 is so totally out of whack but completely adorable. WAAAAAAAANTTTSSSSS T__T *needs a PS3*

Later in the evening, whiterabbit and me discovered that Satsuma Shabu-shabu is closed for good :( We were really crushed as it was our favorite hang out place to sit and eat. Looking for other alternative, we decided on Winter Warmers since the Onion mentioned she missed this place earlier. whiterabbit herself hadn’t the chance to try it so it was a go.

The pretty cups <3

The pretty cups <3 And the tablecloth matches the cups XDD

Personally I’d been here several times and I’m still charmed by the prettiness and overall atmosphere of the place. We ordered cheese baked items as main meal and got a pot of Strawberry Cocktail Tea to share. I am used to ordering Black Tea there but both whiterabbit and I didn’t think it was a good idea to take anything caffeine so late into the night XD;; It was a good choice on our part because the tea was really really nice <3

First Mooncake for 2008? 8D on Thursday, September 11th, 2008

This is all kind of sad. I’m a Chinese. I’m supposed to celebrate Mooncake Festival/Mid Autumn Festival in the most gluttonous ways possible with all the wonderful variety of mooncakes popping out like mushrooms after the rain.

Apparently I forgot about the festivity totally until the alarm bell sets off last weekend ORZ Mid Autumn Festival is this coming Sunday. I have yet to buy my close relatives any mooncakes for gifts. And WORSE, I have yet to eat a single mooncake myself @A@;;;

But! The problems were finally remedied.

The first mooncake I officially had was this. The Häagen-Dazs® Chocolate Mooncake <3 And it wasn't a even PROPER mooncake :P It's ice-cream with sorbet filling to imitate the usual one -yolk-inside-mooncake look XDD

First official mooncake eaten for 2008? 8D

But am I complaining? NO WAI XD I’d got my mooncake AND ice-cream fix at one go \:D/ JOY

Thank you Booya for treating me and Jive to this wonderful mooncake! ( Which I’d eyed for YEARS but it was expensive to be eaten alone D: Gift? HELL NO YOU THINK I WANNA GIVE THESE AWAY AS FESTIVE GIFTS? Mine! I tell you! MINEEEE! )

PS : I’d got some of these as festive gifts though :3 So pretty, aren’t they? I just hope my aunts and what not won’t kill me for passing it to them so late ^^;;;

Sunday @ ShenZhen City on Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Just got back from the city.

Now back into the nothingness of the industrial area T___T Tiring semi weekend but it was so amazing! I had to thank my dear colleague C and her boyfriend. Food was absolutely wonderful ( I keep saying this about the food here XD - Had buffet dinner at a hotel on Saturday night and then an awesome Chinese local delicacies and roasted meat galore for dinner 8DDDD;;; ) I was brought to this street called “East Gate/ Dong Men(?)” which is like a mix of Petaling Street and Sungei Wang back in Malaysia.

SO MANY PEOPLE O__O;; SO DAMNED HOT. Was warned over and over again about pickpockets. Am amazed how high the sellers jacks up the prices of their goods O_O I was asking for a bag and was quoted RMB280; as my colleague dragged me off the price went down to RMB130 |||ORZ

Oh! Tested first hand that China’s shopping malls’ air conditioning sucks massively. I missed the ‘freeze-your-ass-off’ Malaysian malls for a moment there ..

BUT!! So many sights and cheap stuff ( clothes, shoes, shades, bags, DVDs, games, fake branded goods ET CETERA XDDD ) to look out for! Is broke now. Plz to be sending money T___T

PS : I spent the best RMB15 ever on a hair saloon right across the road in front of Shen Zhen’s amusement park - Happy Valley’s entrance. One whole hour of pampering your hair and massage and a simple facial wash. 気持ち良いいい ~~~ Doesn’t help that the saloon people thinks I’m a student. Fueled my already high Peter Pan complex to no end オホホホホホ〜〜

Hong Kong Day One? on Sunday, June 15th, 2008

I just realised it’s almost a month since I packed and flew off to Macau/HK for my trip ( and of course, the main reason being there for L’Arc~en~Ciel’s L’7 tour :3 ) — and I had not actually.. wrote anything about it *lazyyyyyy*

Uhmmm Day 1 wasn’t much except for a huge hiccup on the flight plan and I ended up in Macau around 7:30p.m. instead of 2:00p.m. ;___; Took the bus and then the ferry over to Hong Kong to finally meet up with Emily who had reached about half the day earlier XD;;; Nothing much to talk about really except that :

Wagon Noodles bowl is HUGEEEEEEEE. I definitely can never EVER finishes it up myself. But it’s really rather nice :3 ( Is it just me or is the food portion at Hong Kong rather big? :\ )

Wagon Noodle @ Mongkok Wagon Noodle @ Mongkok

This was my first proper meal in Hong Kong :3 And it’s the most expensive bowl of Chinese noodles I’d ever eaten too XDD ( BYE BYE HKD48 XD;; ) The broth is actually peppery and it’s filled with so many random vegetable, meat, unidentified meat-stuff and just a small portion of noodles :3~

Interesting find at 12 midnight in Mongkok ( we stayed at a budget hostel at the area ^^v )

Day 02 was a full day at Disneyland and misadventure ordering food XD Stay tuned!

I need to stop procrastinating on Friday, June 6th, 2008

Satsuma @ Cineleisure I am craving this again even though I just had it yesterday with shabu-shabu partner in crime - the whiterabbit. We were there at about 7:30 p.m. and the next thing you know, we were STILL there at 10:00p.m. I’m so sorry for the waitress and workers that had to put up with us XD;;;

Satsuma, I really need to learn how to quit you D:

Anyway, guh I hate Wordpress coding. I really do. I finally got off my lazy ass and updated to version 2.5 ( which is pretty darn nice ) and I was obsessively tinkering about for a new layout. So the layout is done. But I shrink away in horror when I open up the codes and php pages ORZ I *want* my new layout up, because I am sick of this one. But everytime I open up Wordpad, I felt like my brain just took an emergency leave ToT

Oh well, lunch first. And before I go, I NEED to plug this badly.

My brother and his three friends + housemates found a newborn pup on a rainy day next to where he parked his car. They took pity and brought her back and nursed her back to health ( she hasn’t even opened her eyes yet and was drenched to the bones D: ) And they decided to update her daily progress on a blog. Much to my joy and dismay because now I had fallen in love with the pup and is definitely plotting to kidnap her from her four ‘fathers’

So, I present to you : Story of Siupok ( Just don’t ask me about the name. I feel so bad for the darling little puppy for having the stupid name >_> )

This is a hunger inducing post on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Went to celebrate a colleague’s birthday yesterday at a Japanese restaurant called Umai-ya ( Delicious Shop? XD ) nearby our workplace. Went there once prior and liked their stuff. As usual; Japanese restaurant tends to be rather pricey but I think the food here is pretty worth the splurge once in a bluemoon :3

Got the private room to ourselves ( there were six of us in total ) and it was absolute havoc XD I sure hope the other diners didn’t file complains against us for being too loud and rowdy ^^; ( it’s not like any of us had any sake either .. )

Pictures are taken with el crappo phone camera. Sorry about the quality ;3;

Sake and Kanpachi sashimi set :3 Portions were just good for the six of us and the slices were generous

Since we decided to order stuff a la carte; we ordered steamed rice bowl each ( though there are other options such as garlic rice and some other too methink ) Picture next to this are of steamed egg with unagi :3 Pretty good though it really resembles those homemade steamed egg with pork innit XDD

Quite possibly my favourite dish for the night. Sushi with special mango sauce ( there are mango slices too :3 )

Mixed seafood teppanyaki. This taste a little weird for me. Maybe because they added some pepper-y stuff on the mayonnaise dressing?

Fried ebi tenpura :3 I’m a-okay with this cuz I’m not usually a tempura person XD;;

Chicken teriyaki. The teriyaki sauce is nice but then again, I’m not too much of a teriyaki person either XP But there was soft shell crab, which I LOVED. So all is well ♥

We decided that we weren’t full enough after all those ( ooooh the gluttony! ) and ended the dinner with another set of sake sashimi and sake maki XD I love the shape the maki comes in :3

There are a few more pictures taken from the first time we went there last month. But I’d got lazy XD Will probably upload it later XD
