This question had never raised so much appreciation about Life as ironically it was being asked by a Shinigami [ 死神, God of Death, or to fellow Pratchett-ians .. DEATH ]

And yes I finally get to see it last night! <3

 
The Accuracy of Death follows the story of one of the many Shinigami/Grim Reapers at work. The adorably clueless and ultra gorgeous if I may add Chiba is followed by his superior in the form of a black dog into the human’s world. Chiba is to observe human who will be faced with unexpected death cases for seven days so he can pass the final judgment whether he/she is to be labelled “Proceed” - to die or “Passed Over” - to live until death claims them again since “Everyone will die someday anyway”.

Chiba himself always wondered why it rained everytime he’s on assignment and wondered how exactly a clear blue sky looks like. Having the ‘But oh well!’-attitude to human world’s quirks and problems in general, he goes on ahead doing his job while taking the time to indulge in his favourite pastime; humanity’s greatest invention - music.

He’s not slacking off on his job. Really.

This had been an awesome summer for movies for me. Not that there’s summer here in Malaysia. No wait. Rather, I think we have summer all year round, with crazy rain every other day when it’s not brain baking hot. Anyway, I digress. I’m an avid cinema goer. I’m a huge mainstream movie addict and I really can’t resist the summer movies call. So here I am with a run down of the ones I’d waited for and watched. Rating are based on my own personal preferences and thoughts of course No one says I will like the movies you like anyway

 
So, onwards! May releases!

Summer movies officially started for me with Iron Man. And I was so sick of all the dregs ( Forbidden Kingdom OH GOD, someone burn it now now NOW ) we’d got in the local cinema before this shows up. And to think I nearly didn’t wanna watch it because “Err wait, another Superhero movie?” =”=;; Glad my pals convinced me otherwise

I’m no fan of western comics so I know jack about the characters but I adored it immensely. It blends fun and action seamlessly making sure that even people that had no idea previously who the hell is Tony Stark [ read : ME ] can ease into the story straight on. Plus, Robert Downey Junior is really really charming as that asshole genius.

BATMANNNNNNNNN <3 <3 <33 And The Joker was completely AWESOMELY FREAKY. ( Oh Heath Ledger T__T ) I'm SO going to watch this again. On iMax 8D Most definitely. And now for all the other movies I missed in the silver screen the two weeks I was away D: And not to mention rewatching The Dark Knight for as much as I cannnnn

When I was in Hong Kong I was bombarded by two movie trailers EVERYWHERE I go (especially on the MTR station ) One being the hyped up sequel of Narnia - Prince Caspian ( HAY BEN BARNES <3 ) and another .. something I did not hear about at all -- Penelope.

I was wholly amused by the trailer initially but something else caught my eyes. The guy is HOT <3 I was truly annoyed at the fact that he looks damned familiar but I can not seem to place his face nor name ( his name was in Chinese. We were afterall in HK ) Emily couldn't help either because English names sounds awfully weird when it's translated to Chinese ( but she had to endure my gushing EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I walk pass the screen showing the trailer XDD )

In the end ( after a day of two in the whole trip tbh ), it was Moona to the rescue. She went : "James McAvoy? He's Mr. Tumnus, y'know. Narnia"

Que me going "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!!!"

Yeah, I'm dumb like that.

Movie is so adorable and whimsical. Light hearted and fairytale like, if you are like me who had never really grown up from enjoying stories that you want a happily ever after for, Penelope is a fun movie to watch. ( PS : James McAvoy is HOT. YES, HOT )

PS : Watched The Happening by M Night Shamalan last night with Emily and Rachel, the movie left me with the word “WUT!?! Millennium hands and shrimps!” on top of my head halfway through until when the credit rolls. It’s.. lukewarm. Uhm. Yeah, like War of the World, lukewarm. Never really know what’s the fuss was all about. If it’s massive creepy grand scale epidemic/outbreak movies I kinda preferred The Invasion more? And I really need to watch Invasion of the Body Snatchers

THE ANSWER : One movie ticket.

Watched Linda Linda Linda with Moona and Reins over the weekend. The film was a part of GSC’s Japanese Films Festival. Just like last year when I got to watch Shimotsuma Monogatari I went head over heels in love with it.

But unlike the eccentric and dynamically paced Shimotsuma Monogatari, Linda Linda Linda took a while to grow on me ( and by a while, I meant about several hours AFTER i watched it ) The direction and the way the story was told feels stagnant and slow paced most of the time. But without knowing it I ended up smiling and laughing at those awkward silence between characters and their interactions.

Asking me to describe the story will be very easy and at the same time, difficult. It’s easy because the movie is nothing as much as a plot than a scenario. The plot was established VERY early in the movie when you see an all high school girl rock band fell apart when their guitarist broke her finger. The vocalist got into an argument with the keyboardist over the replacement of the band member resulting in the vocalist leaving the band for good. All these tension ? They were all off screen and we were treated only with the aftermath and had to piece what happened from conversations between characters XD;

Many elements from this movie can easily put me off the movie ( since yanno, I’m such a commercial movies-h0 =P ). But somehow, the charming characters and the minimalistic way the movie was depicted rings something very honest and clear to the audience. There were no rival band in the movie, there were no prominent evil character that will try to sabotage the band; there weren’t even much tension that builds over the movie. The story was told in a way you’ll feel like you’re reading a diary of one of the main characters about what happened in that three days they’ve got. Somehow you can believe the characters and the events that passed through are as real as you are ( minus probably the strange Korean transfer student XD But there’s just no way ANYONE can *not* like her )

As much as you don’t enjoy movie that was paced in what musical term might label “andante” ; you should just watch it for the wide eyed, weird Korean transfer student turned vocalist who couldn’t speak much of the native Japanese language AT ALL. She is easily one of the most charming female character I’d seen on film right along with Amélie Poulain from Le Fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain :3

At the end of the movie, if you don’t have the urge to sing along or at least hum to Blue Heart’s cover song “Linda Linda” (one of the three songs the band covered ); you had to be at least 80% not human.

I think one of the things I’ll missed most when I leave my current company will be all the free movie tickets I get.

Guess who had watched Pirates of the Carribean 3 : At World’s End which will be opening in two days’ time?

Verdict ? : OMG I NEED TO WATCH THAT AGAIN MOAR OF EVERYONE PLZ I CAN’T DECIDE WHO’S MY FAVORITE-ST OF ALL!
I mean, yeah there are some scenes in the movie that makes me go “Huh?” but the rest of the awesome-ness makes up for it. And yes, you’re hearing this from someone who thought the 2nd movie was a disappointment.
