One of my favourite games on the DS has to be the Ace Attorney series starring Phoenix Wright. And since the madhatter also acquired a Nintendo DS fairly recently, we’ve both been voraciously playing the Phoenix Wright series while chatting to each other over work about it again (as we did with FF12, hehe). Our chat invariably turned to two topics – the new Ace Attorney series, which no longer stars Phoenix Wright (*SOB*), and which one our favourite character is, the easy-going, friendly yet cynical defense attorney Phoenix Wright, or serious, cold and calculating prosecutor Miles Edgeworth (no guesses as to which is my favourite).

Phoenix Wright is on the, err, right, and Miles Edgeworth on the left.

“Have you seen the new trailer for Ace Attorney yet?” madhatter typed out to me in MSN. “I think it’s on Gamespot.”

“Nope, not yet,” I typed back, as I did a search on Gamespot for the trailer. I mistakenly thought that she meant the new English version coming out this September, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials & Tribulations, not Gyakuten Saiban 4 (which is the new Japanese game made for the DS), so my search didn’t yield anything interesting. Save for this image:

Of COURSE I sent the link over to madhatter (who favours Nick, the defense attorney).

“Umm, COUGH, apparently this is an image from the soon-to-be-coming third game of the series, part of which Phoenix Wright is in college.”

“What?!? NOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo!!!!! T__T”

“He looks like such a dork XD”

“NOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo Phoenix T__T”

“*sends link of image below* At least the younger Edgey looks cooler XD”

“ROFL Phoenix’s pink shirt XD”

Damn you Ee for showing me this site. Now not only do I have an insane craving for pretty beads, I have swirling images of all the pretty jewelry I would love to make with them swimming in my head.

Kay, so it was probably too early to go hunting anyway, but the DVD for Pan’s Labyrinth just got released in the States on the 15th of May. And since I absolutely adore the movie (depressing (?) ending and the skin-crawling Pale Man notwithstanding), I obviously have to get the DVD. Doubt I’d be able to get my hands on the pretty Korean limited edition though.

Doesn’t it look so cool? It comes with an art book and a replica of Ofelia’s key. It’s limited to 5,000 copies though, and I have no idea when it was released (the UK release was earlier, March 12 2007) or how to even get a hold of one.

The older I grow, it seems the more impatient I become. A long, long time ago I used to be the advice dispensary – patiently listening to friends as they confide in me about anything and everything and then sympathizing with what they’re going through, and perhaps dishing out some suggestions on what to do. Days like that are long gone. These days whenever someone tells me about the crap they are going through, I am more likely to chide them about not doing anything about it. I push people, ask them questions they don’t want to think about, let alone answer – all out of impatience.

The older I grow, the faster I see time ticking across my mind. I’ll be 25 this year already and there are still so many things I want to do, so many things that have yet to happen – and yet I see myself aging before my own eyes, and I fear that I will die still chasing the dream whose face escapes my memory. I grow impatient, wanting things to happen now, and yet not knowing exactly what it is I’m chasing. I no longer have time, it feels – I want to live my life now, before it’s over. So when someone starts moaning about how life is throwing a spanner into its works, I think – why are you wasting your time? Shouldn’t you be fixing whatever is wrong? Life goes on anyway without you – lose rhythm with it and you’ll have to spend time catching up. Don’t you want to better spend that time? It frustrates me, spending time trying to give people advice they don’t seem to understand.

I’m no longer the listener I was. And to my friends who have been on the receiving end of this frustration lately, I’m sorry. I truly mean the best for you, even if it’s hidden behind a wall of impatience.

Tucked away in a corner behind TGIF in The Curve is a cute little donut and coffee place called Big Apple Donuts & Coffee, which I would never have discovered had Significant Other and I not taken the nearby lift from the parking lot some time ago. Since I so happened to be around the area last Sunday, I couldn’t resist getting myself a box. Don’t they look absolutely delightful? It’s RM9.50 for six, but I think they’re worth the price :D

I swear this is the first time that I’ve ever seen 0 represent the ground floor, and negative numbers the basement levels in a building.

And FYI, the title is a Dungeons and Dragons joke (characters become unconscious at 0 HP, and continue losing 1 HP per round until they hit -10, when they die).

You were brought into this world at 2pm, 29th April 2007. Your first cry was music to my ears. I had never heard anything so beautiful in my entire life. It was painful watching you get prepped up before you were delivered into my loving arms. The seconds took so long to tick by that it felt like an eternity had passed. But you were finally given to me, once preparations were complete. I eagerly snatched you up in my arms and caressed your silky smooth body. I stared at your beautiful bright eyes.

“You’re so gorgeous,” I whispered.

Next to me, two similarly proud parents looked at me and smiled knowingly.

“What will you name it?” one asked.

Without hesitation, I replied, “I will name it after me, of course.”

And I entered your name. Although Whiterabbit was too long, so I had to settle for just Rabbit.

I beamed a wide smile. “I will show you off to the world,” I murmured. And I snapped a photo of you.
